The man convicted of killing American rapper Nipsey Hussle has been sentenced to at least 60 years in prison.
Eric R. Holder, Jr. was found guilty of first-degree murder last July for killing Hussle – whose real name is Ermias Asghedom – outside Hussle’s South Los Angeles clothing store in 2019.
The 33-year old Hussle, who grew up in South Los Angeles, where he was a member of the Rollin’ 60s street gang as a teenager, was shot at least 10 times, after which his assailant kicked him in the head and fled the scene.
Hussle, who won two posthumous Grammy awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap/Song Collaboration in 2020, and was also awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, opened the Marathon Clothing store as a way of investing in his community, and had reached out to the Los Angeles Police Department to discuss ways to help prevent gang violence in the neighbourhood.
