President Bola Tinubu on Sunday accepted the presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 election, declaring that continuity was necessary to consolidate ongoing reforms and place Nigeria on a path of economic growth and stability.
Speaking at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, President Tinubu said the country had recorded progress in economic reforms, infrastructure, education financing and the power sector under his administration.
The President who polled a total of 10,999,162 votes after the nationwide collation of results, described his nomination as a renewed mandate to continue what he called the unfinished work of rebuilding the country.
The President urged Nigerians to remain united despite political and ethnic differences, noting that democracy thrived on diversity and shared national purpose. Mr President also called on Nigerians to support his administration’s programmes ahead of the 2027 election.
President Tinubu said part of his administration’s implemented structural reforms, included fuel subsidy removal, exchange rate adjustments and fiscal policies aimed at boosting government revenue.
According to him, the Nigerian Education Loan Fund had disbursed more than N282 billion to over 1.5 million beneficiaries as part of efforts to remove barriers to higher education.
