3 Kidnappers Killed, Abducted Victim Rescued in Oyo Police Operation

Police Force

Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Oyo State, in collaboration with local hunters and other security agencies, have neutralised three suspected kidnappers during a gun battle in the Otu area of the state.

The operation followed a distress call received on May 25, 2026, from local hunters who reportedly came under attack by suspected kidnappers while on a hunting expedition in Otu. No casualties were recorded among the hunters.

According to the spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, a joint response team comprising police operatives, local hunters, and other security personnel was immediately deployed to the area following credible intelligence.

Ayanlade explained that the hoodlums opened fire upon sighting the security team, leading to a fierce gun duel. However, the operatives reportedly overpowered the suspects through coordinated tactical operations, resulting in the killing of three suspected kidnappers.

The police also confirmed the rescue of an abducted victim, identified as Mosudi Gbolagade, who was allegedly kidnapped in Okaka and held captive within the Otu area.

Although the victim sustained gunshot injuries during the operation, authorities said he had been evacuated for urgent medical treatment and is currently receiving care.

Security operatives also recovered one AK-47 rifle without ammunition, one single-barrel gun, and a machete from the scene, highlighting the violent nature of the criminal gang.
