President Bola Tinubu has reiterated that no ransom will be paid for the rescue of the children abducted from Kuriga in Kaduna State.
This statement was made during today’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held at the Presidential Villa Abuja.
Addressing State House Correspondents after the FEC meeting, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris, conveyed President Tinubu’s directive to the defense sector to ensure the safe rescue and return of the abducted children to their homes.
President Tinubu also emphasized his firm stance against the payment of ransom to kidnappers, reiterating the government’s determination to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the country.
The President underscored that under the current administration, kidnapping, especially mass abductions, will not be tolerated. This firm stance comes in the wake of the abduction of at least 60 individuals by bandits at Buba village in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Tuesday.
This incident follows closely on the heels of the recent kidnapping of 287 students from LEA Primary School and Government Secondary School in the Kuriga community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, just five days prior.
The recurrence of such brazen attacks highlights the urgent need for decisive action to address the escalating insecurity in the region.
