Arsenal moved to the brink of ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title after a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley on Monday.
Kai Havertz scored the decisive goal with a header as Mikel Arteta’s side opened up a five-point lead at the top of the table ahead of defending champions Manchester City.
The Gunners could officially be crowned Premier League champions on Tuesday if City fail to beat AFC Bournemouth.
Even if Pep Guardiola’s side overcome Bournemouth and later defeat Aston Villa, Arsenal would still seal the title with a win against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Despite the victory, Arsenal were made to work hard by an already relegated Burnley side, with Havertz fortunate to avoid a second-half red card that could have shifted momentum back in Manchester City’s favour.
The slim win also leaves the title race slightly open, as a draw for Arsenal at Selhurst Park could allow City to snatch the trophy on goal difference if they win their remaining two matches.
