The military high command has denied receiving a request to topple the democratic system of government in the country.
The Defence Headquarters had earlier frowned on comments requesting the Armed Forces to interfere in the democratic process of the country following allegations of poor welfare among troops across the services.
However, on Sunday the DHQ in a statement by the Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau, clarified that the military never received any request to take over government in the country.
He described the social media reports as false and disturbing.
He also said the security operatives had launched a manhunt for those behind the report.
