Inec Deploys 146,913 Observers To Monitor Polls

The Chairman, independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu has called on the 229 accredited foreign and national groups deploying over 146,913 Election Observers for the 2023 general election to remain apolitical and not to interfere with the electoral process.
Speaking yesterday while briefing Accredited Election Observers for the election in Abuja, Prof Yakubu reminded the observers that there is a code of conduct for election observation, adding that international observers must be guided by the fact that the election is conducted by Nigeria whose sovereignty must be respected.

Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Africa Regional Director of the International Foundation for Electoral System (IFES), Clara Cole affirmed that IFES mission is to advance good governance and democratic rights – while she also urged observers to adhere to the guidelines as provided by INEC.
