Real Madrid CF have completed the signing of Spanish defender Marc Cucurella from Chelsea FC in a deal reportedly worth €55 million ($63.8 million).
The Spanish giants confirmed the transfer in an official statement on Monday, announcing that Cucurella has signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu until June 30, 2032.
“Real Madrid and Chelsea have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will join our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032,” the club said.
The 27-year-old left-back joins Los Blancos after spending three seasons at Chelsea, having arrived at Stamford Bridge from Brighton & Hove Albion F.C. in 2022.
Before moving to England, Cucurella progressed through the academy of FC Barcelona before establishing himself at Getafe CF.
Cucurella is currently away on international duty with Spain national football team at the FIFA World Cup and is the only Real Madrid player included in coach Luis de la Fuente’s squad.
The signing comes during a period of major rebuilding at Real Madrid following two seasons without winning a major trophy.
