Team Nigeria Climbs to Fourth Position in African Games Medal Table

Team Nigeria finishes second on medals table in 13th African Games

Team Nigeria has made a significant leap to the fourth position on the overall medals table at the ongoing African Games in Ghana. The country’s athletes have showcased impressive performances, securing a total of ten gold, eighteen silver, and 16 bronze medals.

The climb in the standings came after a remarkable display of talent on Sunday, where Team Nigeria clinched seven gold medals across various events. Anuoluwapo Opeyori notably secured Nigeria’s first gold medal in the Badminton men’s singles tournament, breaking the streak of near-misses and bringing joy to the Nigerian contingent.

The momentum continued in the women’s wrestling event, with all six Nigerian wrestlers delivering stellar performances and claiming gold medals. Mercy Genesis, Christiana Ogunsanya, and Kolawole Omolayo showcased exceptional skill and determination, contributing to the country’s gold medal rush.

As of 10:12 pm on Monday, Egypt maintains its lead on the medal table with an impressive tally of 40 gold, 18 silver, and 16 bronze medals. Algeria and South Africa follow closely in second and third place respectively.
