Rivers Hoopers have made history by becoming the first Nigerian basketball team to advance to the semifinal stage of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
The Hoopers secured this milestone achievement by defeating US Monastir in a thrilling quarterfinals knockout game, with a final score of 92-88.
The Hoopers, who are the reigning champions of the Nigerian Basketball League, were propelled by an outstanding performance from Will Perry. Perry delivered a spectacular game, scoring 33 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and making 5 assists, which proved pivotal in securing the victory and advancing his team to their first-ever BAL semifinal.
In the semifinals, Rivers Hoopers will face Al Ahly of Libya, who themselves advanced by defeating Al Ahly of Egypt in a closely contested match. This sets the stage for an exciting showdown as the Hoopers aim to continue their historic run in the tournament.
