Real Madrid advanced to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after securing a 1-0 victory over Liverpool at the Bernabeu.
The Spanish team proved to be the superior side on the night, with Karim Benzema’s 19th goal of the season sealing the deal.
Real Madrid had built a 5-2 aggregate lead from the first leg, leaving Liverpool with a seemingly impossible task.
Elsewhere, Napoli reached the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in their history after a historic 5-0 aggregate win over Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt.
Victor Osimhen scored a brace in the second leg last night, while Piotr Zielinski added another goal from the penalty spot. Napoli’s victory also means that it is the first time since 2005/2006 that three Italian teams are in the final eight, after AC Milan and Inter Milan already qualified.
