President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, for Dakar, Senegal, where he will attend the inauguration of Senegal’s President-elect, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The invitation extended by the Republic of Senegal to President Tinubu underscores the importance of regional cooperation and solidarity within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, President Tinubu’s presence at the inauguration holds significant diplomatic weight, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to fostering strong ties with its West African neighbors. He will be joining other regional leaders at the prestigious Diamniadio Exhibition Centre for the historic event.
Accompanying President Tinubu on this important trip will be the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, along with other high-ranking government officials. This delegation represents Nigeria’s solidarity with Senegal and its support for the democratic transition taking place in the country.
Following the conclusion of the inauguration ceremony, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria, where he will continue his duties as the President of Nigeria, further strengthening diplomatic ties and cooperation within the ECOWAS community.
