President Tinubu Approves Key Appointments in Police Service Commission and Nigeria Police Trust Fund

President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of key officials in the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF).

President Bola Tinubu has given his nod to the appointment of key officials in the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF). The appointments include DIG Hashimu Argungu (Rtd) as Chairman of the PSC, Chief Onyemuche Nnamani as Secretary, and DIG Taiwo Lakanu (Rtd) as a Member. However, these appointments are subject to confirmation by the Senate.

A statement released by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, confirmed President Tinubu’s approval of the appointments. Additionally, Mr Mohammed Sheidu has been appointed as the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF), effective immediately.

Meanwhile, the Police Service Commission has issued a clarification regarding the training of recently shortlisted candidates for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. The Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, emphasized in a statement that no date has been fixed for the training.

Ani further stated that the training dates circulating on social media platforms are false and urged successful candidates to await the official announcement of the training dates and the designated colleges for the exercise.

These appointments and clarifications underscore the ongoing efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s law enforcement institutions and ensure transparency and efficiency in their operations. With President Tinubu’s approval, the appointed officials are poised to contribute to the advancement of the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, in line with the nation’s objectives for security and law enforcement.
