The Nigerian Official Selection Committee (NOSC) for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has opened submissions for Nigerian feature films to be considered for the International Feature Film (IFF) category at the 97th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars).
The NOSC, accredited by AMPAS, is responsible for selecting Nigeria’s official entry for the IFF Award. Filmmakers are invited to submit their entries via the submission portal at [www.thenosc.org](http://www.thenosc.org) from August 1, 2024, to August 30, 2024.
The committee, led by actress and filmmaker Stephanie Linus, includes returning members such as Victor Okhai, President of the Directors’ Guild of Nigeria (DGN); veteran actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde; former DGN President Andy Amenechi; theatre practitioner Yibo Koko; writer/director Izu Ojukwu; prolific film producer Emem Isong; director Dimeji Ajibola; writer/director Jude Idada; director John Njamah; and actress/polyglot Meg Otanwa.
Stephanie Linus emphasized the significance of including new members with diverse creative backgrounds, stating, “This diversity enhances our ability to select the best film to represent Nigeria.” The committee is responsible for collecting, screening, and voting on entries to represent the country in the IFF category.
As Nigeria continues to make strides in the global film industry, the NOSC’s call for submissions offers a vital opportunity for Nigerian filmmakers to gain international recognition and showcase their work on one of the world’s most prestigious stages.
The 97th Oscars ceremony is scheduled for March 2, 2025, and will be broadcast live from the Dolby Theatre in Ovation Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, to over 200 territories worldwide.
