Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced an increase in Bursary Awards for indigenes of the State in Tertiary Institutions to Sixty thousand Naira and Scholarships to Two hundred and Twenty-Five thousand Naira.
The Governor stated this at an Interactive session at Alausa, Ikeja with the Theme: “Students as Strategic Partners in the Governance Process: Challenges and Prospects for Youth Development” designed as part of his administration’s commitment to carry youths along in line with is T.H.E.M.E.S PLUS Developmental Agenda.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also appointed four former Students’ Union leaders, Eniola Opeyemi, Kayode Samuel, Giwa Moore and Adeola Adewunmi as his Special Assistants.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who reeled out various interventions and programmes of his administration in the Tertiary Education sector, emphasised the need for collaborations to build a solid Student-University-Government relationship.
In an address of welcome, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr Tolani Sule, who boasted that state-owned institutions academic calendar had not been disrupted even during Covid, assured students of more commitment to guarantee academic excellence.
Our correspondent reports that Student Union leaders from thirteen tertiary institutions in the state including Lagos State University, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, University of Lagos, and Yaba College of Technology, among others, attended the interactive session.
