The Lagos Coroner Court in Ikorodu was informed on Wednesday that the most vital part of the autopsy
to ascertain the cause of death of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, is
currently underway in the United States (US).
State Counsel Oluwaseun Akinde updated Coroner Magistrate Adetayo Shotobi, stating that the autopsy focusing on the external body of the deceased has been completed. However, the toxicology test, which
delves into the internal body, is being conducted in the US.
Akinde addressed the court in response to the insistence of counsels representing the deceased’s father,
David Fadimu, TNKay Music Worldwide, David Nawoola, and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Ikorodu
represented by O.S.A. Aranmolaran and Jennifer Nina. When questioned about the choice of conducting the toxicology test abroad, Akinde explained that Lagos State opted for the US due to the various substances alleged to have been involved in the death and the necessity to prevent controversy over the autopsy report. He emphasized that the decision was also influenced by the global attention the case has garnered.
He stressed that inviting Prof. Soyemi, the pathologist in Lagos, to present an incomplete report would
be futile, and the choice of conducting the toxicology test abroad was to ensure a comprehensive and
internationally accepted autopsy report.
