Tobi Amusan has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new African women’s indoor record in the 60 meters, clocking an impressive 7.75 seconds at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix in Boston.
This achievement surpasses her previous record of 7.77 seconds, which she established at the Astana Indoor Meet in Kazakhstan in January.
Although Amusan’s 7.75-second performance secured her a new African record, she narrowly missed the top spot in Boston, finishing second to America’s Tia Jones, who completed the race in 7.72 seconds.
Devynne Chalton of the Bahamas closely followed Amusan in third place with a time of 7.76 seconds. This outstanding performance adds to Amusan’s achievements in the current athletic season, where she previously surpassed the African record set by her compatriot Gloria Alozie.
Amusan continues to make a mark in the world of athletics, showcasing her speed and skill on the international stage.
