The Super Falcons of Nigeria have secured their spot in the final round of qualifiers for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games after defeating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon with a 1-0 victory at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Monday evening.
With this win, the Falcons advance on a 1-0 aggregate scoreline following a goalless draw in Cameroon last week.
The lone goal of the match came in the 14th minute courtesy of Esther Okoronkwo, who found the back of the net to give Nigeria the crucial lead.
Despite their best efforts, the Cameroonians were unable to find an equalizer and were dealt a further blow when Enganemben Annie received a red card for a reckless challenge on Chiamaka Nnadozie, leaving them with ten players for the remainder of the game.
With this victory, Nigeria now awaits the winner between South Africa and Tanzania in April for one of the two tickets to the Paris Olympic Games.
