As the anticipation builds for the AFCON semi-final clash between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Bafana-Bafana of South Africa, the Nigeria High Commission has issued an advisory to Nigerians residing in South Africa regarding their safety and conduct.
In a communique released on Tuesday, the High Commission warned Nigerian citizens in South Africa of potential “veiled threats” against them should the outcome of the match favor the 2013 champions.
The advisory urged the Nigerian community to exercise caution in their interactions and to be mindful of their surroundings, especially when watching the match in public places.
Furthermore, Nigerians were advised to refrain from engaging in provocative celebrations that could incite violence in the event of a Nigerian victory. Instead, the High Commission emphasized the importance of reporting any acts of violence or provocation to the appropriate authorities and urged Nigerians to uphold the law and remain peaceful members of society.
The advisory comes amidst heightened tensions and anticipation following the Super Eagles’ impressive performance in the tournament.
