on Tyneside, as AC Milan came from behind to win 2-1 at St James’ Park and send them out of Europe.
The defeat left manager Eddie Howe and his players devastated following a return to the Champions
League, but has ended with them bottom of Group F and without even the consolation of a place in the
Europa League. AC Milan on the other hand get to contend with the Europa League.
The Champions League last-16 draw takes place in Nyon, Switzerland on Monday, December 18, with
two English clubs Holders Manchester City, and Arsenal, waiting to discover their fate.
Other qualified teams include Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund,
Copenhagen, Inter Milan, Lazio, Napoli, Paris St-Germain, Porto, PSV Eindhoven, RB Leipzig, Real Madrid,
Real Sociedad.
The first legs of the last 16 will be played across two weeks, 13-14 and 20-21 February 2024, with the
second legs on 5-6 and 12-13 March.
The draws for the quarterfinals and semi-final will be done together on Friday, 15 March.
