The Lagos State Government has announced plans to implement an electronic call-up system for oil tankers operating within the state.
This initiative aims to streamline the movement of oil tankers and prevent them from parking illegally on or under bridges, contributing to traffic congestion and safety hazards.
Mr. Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation, revealed this development during a special stakeholders’ parley on transportation safety held on Wednesday in Lagos. He emphasized that the electronic call-up system for oil tankers would function similarly to the existing system for trucks, which has proven effective in managing traffic flow and reducing gridlock.
Giwa highlighted the collaborative efforts between the Lagos State Government and key stakeholders, including the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), the Nigeria Union Of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR), and others, in implementing the e-call-up system.
By engaging various stakeholders, the government aims to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the electronic call-up system for oil tankers.
