The Calas Vegas carnival band has emerged as the overall winner of the 2024 Calabar Street Carnival, retaining its title after securing the top spot in the 2023 edition.

The announcement came after the conclusion of the Carnival Street Party, where seven competitive bands were judged by teams of adjudicators stationed at four different performance points. 

Calas Vegas wowed the judges and audience alike with their dazzling costumes and electrifying performances, earning them the coveted first-place position.

Seagull band secured the second position, while Bayside band claimed the third spot, rounding out the top three competitive bands.

The carnival parade, which covered a 12-kilometer route from Millennium Park through Mary Slessor Avenue to the UJ Esuene Stadium, showcased the creativity, energy, and cultural vibrancy of the participating bands. 

In total, seven competitive bands—Passion 4, Freedom, Bayside, Calas Vegas, Masta Blasta, Seagull, and Diamond Bands—and seven non-competitive bands took part in the event.
