Popular Yoruba Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has died at the age of 40, years after courageously battling breast cancer and making a return to acting.

Osoba first revealed her diagnosis in 2024 and underwent treatment and surgery with support from colleagues, fans and well-wishers. Faced with the high cost of corrective surgery, she publicly sought financial assistance, prompting a fundraising campaign led by actresses Foluke Daramola and Iyabo Ojo.

After months of treatment, Osoba announced in 2025 that she had overcome the illness and resumed her acting career, inspiring many with her resilience and determination.

Before news of her death emerged, the actress shared the message “Ogo Tuntun” — a Yoruba phrase meaning “New Glory” — which has since drawn emotional reactions from fans and members of the film industry.

Her passing has sparked tributes from colleagues and admirers who remember her strength, optimism and contributions to Nollywood.
