The Yobe Government has dismissed a report that a strange disease claimed the lives of 200 youths in Potiskum and Nangere over the past two weeks.
Its Commissioner for Health, Dr Mohammed Gana, while addressing newsmen yesterday in Damaturu said the ministry launched a thorough investigation upon receiving the reports, deploying health teams and facility managers to the areas, which yielded no confirmation of such deaths.
The health commissioner also advised people of the state on the recent increase in environmental temperature to about 45 degrees Celsius, urging them to take precautions in other not to aggravate health problems.
To stay safe during the hot weather, Commissioner Gana appealed to citizens to sleep in well-ventilated areas, avoid overcrowded and stuffy environments, stay hydrated, and limit exposure to direct sunlight.
