The World Health Organization says the United States has notified it of its decision to withdraw noting that global health threats don’t stop at borders, highlighting the collective and cooperation of everyone to saves lives.
The WHO noted that For over 75 years, the United States has helped the international health organization to achieve major public health victories, including eradicating smallpox and fighting polio, HIV, Ebola, malaria, tuberculosis, influenza and more stressing that the partnerships have made the world — including the United States safer.
The WHO noted that During COVID-19, the WHO shared timely information early and transparently, alerting the world in January 2020 when cases were still under 100 outside China, and provided evidence-based guidance to help countries protect their people in Decisions like lockdowns or mandates were always made by governments themselves.
The statement adds that the WHO is independent, impartial and guided by science, serving all 194 Member States equally. Countries continue working together through WHO, including on the new Pandemic Agreement, to prevent future crises.
The WHO reassure it’s commitment to its mission: health as a human right for everyone, everywhere and hopes the United States will one rescinds his decision to withdraw from the noble organization
