Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says Nigeria generated about ₦21.6 trillion in tax revenue in the first half of 2026, describing the figure as a 49 percent increase from the same period last year.

Sani spoke at the 160th Joint Revenue Board meeting in Kaduna, where he praised President Bola Tinubu’s tax reforms for improving revenue collection and modernising the country’s tax system.

He said national revenue rose from ₦10.1 trillion in 2023 to ₦21.6 trillion in 2024 and ₦36.8 trillion in 2025, with the latest figures showing continued growth under the new reforms.

The governor said the reforms are designed to reduce multiple taxation, simplify compliance, deploy technology and e-invoicing, and limit revenue leakages. He stressed that stronger tax collection should go alongside fairness, transparency and public trust.

Sani also credited former KADIRS Executive Chairman Jerry Adams and his team with raising Kaduna’s internally generated revenue from about ₦4 billion to ₦10 billion monthly.
