United States President Donald Trump has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, commending his efforts to tackle insecurity and combat terrorism in Nigeria.

According to a statement by the Presidency, Trump, in a letter to Tinubu, recognised the Nigerian leader’s commitment to addressing the violence affecting parts of the country, particularly attacks on Christian communities.

The US President reaffirmed Washington’s support for Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts, noting that American Special Operations Forces are working with the Nigerian Armed Forces by providing training, intelligence and operational support to strengthen security.

Trump also described the US-Nigeria partnership as vital to regional stability, saying both countries remain committed to confronting terrorism under the 2026 US-Nigeria Defence Cooperation Roadmap.
