Trump Campaign Ordered to Stop Using Song by Isaac Hayes

Trump vows to end US citizenship by birthright and pardon US Capitol rioters

A U.S. judge has ordered Donald Trump’s campaign to stop using the song *Hold On, I’m Coming* at his rallies following a lawsuit from the family of the song’s co-writer, Isaac Hayes.

The song, made famous by soul duo Sam and Dave in 1966, had been regularly played at Trump’s events, including the Republican National Convention.

The lawsuit, filed by Hayes’ family, claimed the campaign repeatedly ignored requests to stop using the song. Judge Thomas Thrash’s temporary ruling in Georgia prohibits the campaign from using the song until the case is resolved. However, the court declined to order the removal of past event recordings featuring the song.

Isaac Hayes III, son of the late co-writer, expressed approval of the decision, stating his father would not have supported Trump. He emphasized that their stance was based on character, not politics.

Ronald Coleman, Trump’s lawyer, stated that the campaign had already agreed to stop using the song and returned to playing YMCA by the Village People since the lawsuit was filed. Coleman also expressed satisfaction that the court did not order the removal of previous videos featuring the song, citing First Amendment concerns.
