Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested six suspected kidnappers in Adamawa while a Boko Haram terrorist surrendered in Borno State.
The Acting Military Information Officer, Captain Mohammed Goni, said troops of 29 Task Force Brigade, alongside Forest Guards, received the repentant terrorist at Borgozo in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State on Sunday.
The suspect reportedly escaped from a terrorist enclave to abandon terrorism. Troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of ammunition, four magazines, an Improvised Explosive Device, a magazine pouch and a bicycle.
In Adamawa State, troops working with local hunters arrested six suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate operating around Soktu Hill in Song Local Government Area.
The arrests followed intelligence-led operations that uncovered the group’s hideout and subsequent covert operations. A Dane gun was also recovered.
The military said preliminary investigations indicate that the syndicate had been operating across Soktu, Dumne and Maigero communities, with suspects allegedly admitting involvement in several ransom kidnappings and other violent crimes.
The suspects remain in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution, as Operation Hadin Kai continues its offensive against terrorists and criminal groups in the Northeast.
