President Bola Tinubu has urged Team Nigeria to compete with integrity and avoid doping as they prepare for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, during a ceremonial send-off in Abuja, Tinubu charged the 72-member contingent to uphold Nigeria’s reputation by winning medals through discipline, hard work, and fair play.

He stressed that while victory is important, competing clean is even more valuable, reminding the athletes that they are ambassadors of Nigeria’s values on the global stage.

The President also cited lessons from the last Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and warned athletes against actions that could tarnish the country’s image.

Tinubu added that his administration has strengthened Nigeria’s anti-doping framework through the Nigerian Anti-Doping Act and the inauguration of the Nigerian Anti-Doping Centre board to promote clean and credible sports.
