President Bola Tinubu has challenged the Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) to reduce gas flaring and make better use of Nigeria’s gas reserves to deliver greater economic value to citizens.
Tinubu gave the directive on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja while meeting the NLNG Board, led by Managing Director and CEO Adeleye Falade.
The President urged NLNG to look beyond export earnings and expand the domestic use of gas, promising government support and incentives for projects that increase the company’s capacity.
Falade told Tinubu that NLNG has generated more than $150 billion since its creation, while its shareholders, including the Nigerian government, have received about $47 billion in dividends. The Federal Government owns 49 per cent of NLNG.
He also announced the completion of the Bonny-Bodo Road and Bridge, an NLNG-funded project that now awaits official commissioning.
