Nigerian actress and media personality Temi Otedola has openly embraced being a “nepo baby,” saying family connections can create opportunities but do not take away from an individual’s hard work or achievements.

Speaking on a recent episode of The How Far Podcast, which she co-hosts with her husband, Mr Eazi, Temi said privilege goes beyond fame and includes access to financial stability, quality education, and a supportive upbringing.

The daughter of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola argued that nepotism simply means benefiting from opportunities made possible through family connections, particularly in the entertainment industry.

Using a hypothetical example, she said parents with influence would naturally introduce their child to top producers or help finance a music video, giving them an advantage others may not have.

Temi said she finds it surprising when people refuse to acknowledge the role privilege has played in their success, insisting she has never denied being a “nepo baby.”

According to her, recognising privilege is about being honest about one’s starting point and does not diminish personal talent or accomplishments.
