President, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles will take the match against Sao Tome and Principe seriously, in spite already securing 2024 AFCON qualification.
The Super Eagles will on Sunday lock horns with Sao Tome and Principe in a dead rubber 2024 AFCON qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Gusau gave the assurance on Thursday in Abuja and said the match will also serve as preparation for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers scheduled to commence in November.
21 players including coaches and officials of the Sao Tome and Principe Football Association made the trip to Nigeria for the game having already qualified, while the True Patriots will be looking to record their first win in the qualifier.
