Spain reclaimed the FIFA World Cup title with a 1-0 extra-time victory over defending champions Argentina.
Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in extra time to seal Spain’s second World Cup title, ending a 16-year wait since lifting the trophy in 2010.
Argentina’s hopes suffered a major setback late in normal time when Enzo Fernández was sent off after receiving a second yellow card, leaving the defending champions with 10 men.
Spain took control of the extra period and eventually broke the deadlock through Torres after a well-worked move involving Nico Williams.
Despite several crucial saves from goalkeeper Emiliano MartÃnez, Argentina could not hold on as Spain reclaimed football’s biggest prize with a hard-fought victory.
