Shettima Credits Tinubu's Reforms for Rise in Foreign Reserves

Vice President Kashim Shettima has defended the economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, saying they have helped improve investor confidence and significantly strengthen Nigeria’s foreign reserves.

Speaking at the Delta Economic and Investment Summit in Asaba, Shettima said the country has moved from a period marked by capital flight and limited foreign exchange inflows to one attracting increased investment. According to him, Nigeria’s foreign reserves have grown from about $3 billion to over $52 billion, despite ongoing global economic uncertainties.

The Vice President argued that the improvement reflects the impact of reforms implemented across key sectors and maintained that the administration deserves recognition for stabilising the economy.

Shettima also praised Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo for consistently supporting and explaining the Federal Government’s economic policies to Nigerians. He commended Soludo’s stance during the 2023 elections, describing it as a position taken despite prevailing political pressures.

He further noted that the growing number of investment summits being organised across states reflects increasing competition among sub-national governments to attract investors, create jobs and drive economic growth.
