The Senate has reshuffled some of its standing committees during plenary.
Resuming after a two-week budget defence break, Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced appointment of chairmen to oversee committees of new Development Commissions recently assented to by President Bola Tinubu, naming Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as Chairman, South East Development Commission committee, Titus Zam (North Central Development Commission) and Husseini Babangida (North-West Development Commission).
Also reshuffling some of the standing committees, Akpabio appointed Abdul Ningi as Chairman, Senate committee on FERMA, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Diaspora and Non-Developmental Organization), Joel Onowakpo (Local Content), Victor Umeh (National Population), Maidoki Musa (Sport), and Austine Akobundu (Airforce).
In another Development, the Senate President announced the official signing into law by President Bola Tinubu, the bill establishing the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), a federal polytechnic in Rano, Kano state, and a federal university of health sciences in Tsafe, Zamfara state.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, in another development revealed thatPresident Tinubu declined to sign into law the Federal University of Education, Numan, Adamawa State Establishment Bill, citing errors in documentation and other concerns.
