The House of Representatives committee investigating the alleged PFIPC budget inclusion says its preliminary findings cleared Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila of any role in creating or approving the purported organisation.

Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, said at a briefing that Gbajabiamila instead alerted security and investigative agencies after concerns about the organisation reached his office.

The panel also found that a letter allegedly signed by Gbajabiamila appointing Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi as the organisation’s Director-General was forged. Investigators said the document did not use genuine State House letterhead, carried an inconsistent reference number and had no record of presidential approval.

The committee further received a complaint alleging that Adeyemi collected about ₦400 million from a company after promising it a contract to renovate and furnish a residence he allegedly claimed had been allocated to him as PFIPC Director-General.

The panel stressed that its findings remain preliminary. It said the final report will determine individual and institutional responsibility and may recommend administrative, financial, civil or criminal action.
