Nigerian singer, Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, professionally known as Qing Madi, has been named as the EQUAL Africa artiste for January 2025.

This is according to the online music streaming platform, Spotify.

Spotify’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, PhionaOkumu, in a statement yesterday, said this was setting the tone for a remarkable year in African music, and reaffirming Spotify’s commitment to spotlighting exceptional female talent from the continent onto a global stage.

Describing Qing Madi is a phenomenal talent whose music resonates deeply with audiences both in Africa and beyond, Okumu noted that the artiste ranked among the most-streamed female artistes in Nigeria and Ghana, with her hit American Love securing the position of the second most-streamed song in Uganda.

According to her, Qing Madi who also capped off 2024 with the release of a track Goosebumps, also shines as one of Africa’s leading EQUAL artistes, sharing the spotlight with stars like Tyla, Ayra Starr, and Amaarae.
