President Bola Tinubu has issued a stern warning to those attempting to undermine Nigeria’s sovereignty, asserting that they will face consequences for their actions.
The President made this declaration during a meeting with the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Wednesday.
Led by its leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the Afenifere delegation engaged in discussions with President Tinubu regarding the nation’s security landscape and his administration’s strategies to address it.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackling the numerous security challenges plaguing the country, including terrorism and banditry.
He highlighted significant progress in the fight against terrorism, noting a substantial degradation of insurgent activities compared to previous years when insurgents held sway over certain regions. Moreover, he emphasized his administration’s determination to confront banditry and kidnapping head-on.
In a resolute stance against ransom payments to kidnappers, President Tinubu cited the recent successful rescue operation of the Kuriga students in Kaduna State as evidence of his government’s unwavering resolve. He underscored that his administration would not yield to the demands of kidnappers, prioritizing the safety and security of Nigerian citizens above all else.
Furthermore, President Tinubu unveiled plans to establish robust forest guards tasked with maintaining full control over the nation’s forests.
This initiative aims to enhance security measures and prevent criminal elements from exploiting forested areas for illicit activities such as banditry and kidnapping.
