The Federal Government is set to officially inaugurate the Funtua Inland Dry Port in Katsina State.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Rebecca Adamu, the Assistant Director of the Public Relations Unit of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), the inauguration ceremony is scheduled for Thursday.
President Bola Tinubu will preside over the opening of the dry port at the Funtua IDP project site in Katsina State. The event marks a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to enhance logistics infrastructure and facilitate trade in the country’s hinterland regions.
The establishment of the Funtua Inland Dry Port is part of the NSC’s strategic plan to improve port services accessibility for importers and exporters located in the hinterland. Pius Akutah, the Executive Secretary of the NSC, highlighted the project’s objectives, emphasizing its potential to decongest seaports, generate employment opportunities, and boost government revenue.
Adamu noted that the completion and inauguration of the Funtua Inland Dry Port project underscore the government’s commitment to delivering key infrastructure projects that support economic development and trade facilitation across Nigeria.
The inauguration ceremony symbolizes a significant step forward in the government’s efforts to diversify the economy, promote regional development, and improve the business environment for local entrepreneurs and international traders alike.
