President Bola Tinubu has defended the economic reforms introduced by his administration, insisting they are beginning to deliver positive results and laying the foundation for long-term growth.
Speaking on Thursday at the maiden State House Media Dinner in Abuja, the President acknowledged that the reforms were difficult but necessary, adding that they have helped stabilise the economy and restore investor confidence.
According to Tinubu, public revenue has increased significantly, enabling state governments to receive higher allocations to support development projects across the country.
He also said Nigeria’s foreign reserves have improved, while the oil and gas sector is witnessing renewed investment. The President noted that the stock market has recorded strong growth, with key economic indicators moving in a positive direction.
Tinubu attributed the progress to his administration’s tax and fiscal reforms, infrastructure investments, and efforts to improve the ease of doing business, saying the measures are creating the foundation for a more competitive, productive, and prosperous economy.
While admitting that more work remains to be done, the President maintained that the country is on the right path and that the reforms are positioning Nigeria for sustainable economic growth.
Tinubu also commended the country’s security agencies for their continued efforts in tackling insecurity, highlighting recent successes recorded in the fight against criminal activities across the country.
