President Tinubu says criminal networks have been disrupted and dismantled

The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has issued a stern warning to contractors involved in the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project, stating that any contractor found to be unserious with the Federal Government road project will have their contract terminated and reassigned to more capable contractors.

President Bola Tinubu has commended the Nigerian security forces for their efforts in combating insecurity in the North-West region, highlighting the dismantling of numerous criminal networks.

Speaking at the North-West Peace and Security Summit, organized by the North-West Governors’ Forum in Katsina on Monday, Tinubu emphasized the significant progress made in enhancing regional security.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that the strides made in recent months are just the beginning. He reiterated the government’s commitment to creating a safer environment for all citizens, reinforcing that security remains a top priority since his administration assumed office over a year ago.

“The strategies employed by the government in fighting insecurity in the North-West have begun to provide redemption,” Tinubu stated. “There will be no slowdown until the aim of totally dismantling insurgents is achieved.”

Addressing concerns that insecurity in the North-West might be a sectional agenda, the President dismissed such claims, asserting that instability in any part of the country affects the nation as a whole. He underscored the administration’s dedication to securing all regions of Nigeria.

Security experts have often cited the lack of collaboration among security agencies as a major barrier to effectively combating insecurity. Acknowledging this issue, President Tinubu revealed that the government is making significant efforts to enhance cooperation among various security forces. This includes improving inter-agency communication, information sharing, and coordinating joint training exercises.

“Guidelines such as standard operating procedures and rules of engagement are being adhered to in all our approaches in the battle against insurgents,” Tinubu added.

The summit, held in the capital of Katsina State, provided a platform for discussing ongoing challenges and strategies in the fight against insurgency.

The government’s commitment to a unified approach aims to ensure that all security measures are synchronized for maximum effectiveness.

In his remarks, Tinubu highlighted the importance of maintaining the momentum in security operations and the critical role of inter-agency collaboration in achieving lasting peace. He assured the public that the administration would continue to focus on comprehensive strategies to address and eliminate threats posed by insurgents.
