President Bola Tinubu has asked the National Assembly to increase the 2025 budget from N49.7 trillion to N54.2 trillion.
Tinubu, in a letter read during yesterday’s plenary in both chambers, said the proposed increase arose from the N1.4 trillion additional revenues made by Federal Inland Revenue Service, N1.2 trillion generated by Nigeria Customs Service and N1.8 trillion made by some other government-owned agencies.
Consequently, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, directed Tinubu’s request to the Senate Committee on Finance and Appropriations for swift consideration, adding that the budget deliberation would be concluded and passed before the end of this month.
