President Bola Tinubu orders full implementation of Oronsanye Report

The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has given its nod to the full implementation of the Stephen Oronsaye Panel report, which proposes the merger, scrapping, subsuming, or relocation of various parastatals, agencies, and commissions.

The decision was reached during a FEC meeting presided over by President Bola Tinubu on Monday.

According to Hadiza Bala Usman, the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, the move is aimed at reducing the cost of governance and enhancing efficiency across the governance value chain.

The decision reflects the government’s commitment to streamline operations and optimize resources in line with prevailing economic realities.

To oversee the implementation of the proposed changes, FEC established an eight-man committee tasked with executing the mergers, scrappings, and relocations within a timeframe of 12 weeks. The committee comprises key stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Head of the Civil Service, Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reform, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, and Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters.

The Cabinet Affairs Office has been designated as the secretariat to support the committee’s activities.
