Popular street singer Habeeb Okikiola, known by his stage name Portable, has found himself in legal trouble following his arrest by the police for an alleged refusal to settle the balance of a G-Wagon vehicle he purchased from a car dealer.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday in the bustling Abule Egba area of Lagos, a confirmation made by the state police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin.

Portable, renowned for his energetic performances and catchy tunes, reportedly acquired the high-end G-Wagon with a price tag of ₦27 million, but purportedly only remitted ₦13 million of the total sum, leaving a substantial outstanding amount unpaid.

The arrest scene was captured in viral videos circulating on social media, depicting Portable attempting to evade the approaching law enforcement officers by scaling a gate when they arrived armed with an arrest warrant.

Despite his efforts, he was eventually apprehended and subjected to handcuffing and being escorted into a waiting police vehicle by about four policemen.

Amidst the commotion, the voice of a woman, purportedly the car dealer involved in the transaction, could be heard in the background of the videos, expressing frustration and alleging threats from Portable when she demanded the outstanding payment.

Hundeyin further indicated that the police anticipate the arrival of the singer’s legal representatives on Wednesday morning, with the possibility of court proceedings pending discussions between Portable’s legal team and law enforcement authorities.
