The Delta State Police Command has issued a strong warning to Point of Sale (POS) operators, advising against processing transactions exceeding ₦500,000.
The Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, cautioned that such transactions could potentially link operators to criminal activities, particularly kidnappings.
In a recent statement, SP Edafe underscored the risks involved, citing a recent case in which a POS operator processed a ransom payment of ₦4,000,000 for kidnappers, earning just ₦40,000 in profit. “Don’t be a tool for kidnappers to collect ransom,” he warned. “It must be traced to you.”
He emphasized that engaging in transactions of this magnitude could lead to serious legal consequences, including detention.
“You may argue that you are doing business, but before your lawyer will get you out, you may spend some time cooling off in prison,” SP Edafe added, urging POS operators to exercise caution and stay within the advised transaction limits.
