Police Deploys More Personnel on Lagos -Ibadan Highway to Address increased Kidnapping.

The Inspector General of Police, Alkali Usman has assured that the force has increased its presence along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to prevent crimes and combat issues of increased kidnappings in the area.

The Police IG who was speaking on the increased rate of kidnappings along the South-West Road – spoke during the 57th session of the state house media briefing at the Presidential Villa Abuja. He also revealed that 10,000 recruits are currently in the Nigeria police academy while other officers of the force are receiving various training ahead of the 2023 General Elections.

Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the Police Boss had noted that it is not advisable to “withdraw all police personnel attached to VIPs in the country”. He also pointed out that the Police Specialised Services Automation Project was set up to correct “deployment issues” and stop access of its services to unofficial persons.

Against the backdrop of recent attacks in rallies of political parties by suspected hoodlums and security during the forthcoming General elections, the most recent of which was the convoy of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in Borno, the Inspector General of Police disclosed that a team is being set up to thoroughly investigate the matter, as he assured of adequate security for the upcoming polls.
