Police begin enforcement of Third-Party Vehicle Insurance across the country

The Police across States in the country have announced the commencement of the enforcement of the mandatory minimum of Third-Party Motor Vehicle Insurance with effect from February 1, 2025.

The move, which is in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, is to ensure vehicle owners possess a minimum of valid third-party insurance, as the exercise is designed to protect road users, ensure accountability, and promote compliance with traffic laws.

Those without any class of Insurance are advised to get insured immediately, as non-compliance with this essential regulation will result in strict enforcement actions, including fines, penalties or both
