Osimhen Battles Messi, Ronaldo for IFFHS Award

Nigerian Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, has earned a spot on the shortlist for the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) Best Player Award in the men’s category for 2023. 

The competition is fierce, with nominees including Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Antoine Griezman, Bukayo Saka, Vinicius Jnr, Mohamed Salah, Martin Odegaard, Harry Kane, Kevin De Bruyne, and Jude Bellingham.

Osimhen’s nomination comes on the heels of an outstanding season with Napoli, where he claimed the Serie A top scorer title, netting 26 goals in 32 appearances. His stellar performances have also earned him recognition as the Italian Footballers’ Association (AIC) Serie A Player of the Year for the 2022/23 season.
