The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has charged Ndigbo in Lagos to maintain peace with their hosts before, during and after the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
This is as it also urges Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to provide adequate security in Lagos, especially in various markets.
In a statement signed by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the apex Igbo organisation urges Ndigbo to vote their conscience in the March 11, 2023, governorship election but should do so in peace and harmony with their host communities.
Iziguzoro, however, retracted his earlier hostile posture against Governor Sanwo-Olu and congratulated the President-elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his victory in the 2023 presidential election, and urged Tinubu to reach out to other contestants in the spirit of sportsmanship, as the national healing process should begin with the President-elect personally reaching out to Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, in person not through proxies
